RECIPE: Simple Griddlecakes


Basic Griddlecakes

This recipe is perfect base for those looking to cook something delicious at the weekend and you can serve them with your favourite toppings! Whether you prefer maple syrup, fruit compote or yogurt and honey, griddlecakes make a delicous brunch.  These griddlecakes are also called American Pancakes.




2 cups flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
pinch salt
2 eggs
1 ½ cups milk
3 tablespoons rapeseed oil


1.   Place dry ingredients in a bowl.
2.   Separate the eggs.
3.   Beat the egg yolks and then add the milk and oil to them. Mix well.
4.   Beat the egg whites until stiff
5.   Add the egg yolk mixture to the dry ingredients and mix sufficiently to moisten them. Do not over-mix or heavy pancakes will result.
6.   Fold in the egg whites.
7.   Place spoonfuls on a greased, hot griddle.
8.   Turn pancakes when bubbles form on the surface.
9.   Eat hot with syrup, jam, butter and cream.
