Events: NomNomNom Revisit
A bit like Grand Designs Revisited, at the end of September we had our first NomNomNom Revisit – a gathering of food bloggers (cooks, writers and friends) returned to Cookery School to cook a Middle Eastern feast together. This time it was not a competition but a reunion with teamwork, storytelling and a fantastic meal.

Events: Les Dames d’Escoffier
This week we hosted an evening for Les Dames d’Escoffier, a leadership culinary organisation made up of successful women in the food industry who have also contributed to their local communities. Founded in New York City in the 1970s, we were hosts to the London chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier for the first time, since our founder, Rosalind, joined the organisation as a new Dame earlier this year!

Midsummer Corporate Events
Midsummer was a time of corporate partying at Cookery School at Little Portland Street and we hosted a good number of wonderful events this July. What surprised and thrilled us was the fact that after each we had reviews from every company with whom we had worked. Below are a selection of them. It is worth pointing out that for most of them we provide only their quotes.
Last Week in the Kitchen
WE HOSTED several corporate events who all chose Spanish and Italian menus.
WE COOKED delicious dim sum and pastry chef Maddy made sponge biscuits for tiramisu, aided by Louisa, our work experience student who has joined us as part of her school programme.
WE LEARNT that snake beans and long beans are the same thing. We bought them from two different shops and found that they were same ingredient in both cases!

Corporate Chocolate Masterclass
Discover our Corporate Chocolate Masterclass at Cookery School at Little Portland Street.
When Cookery School started twenty years ago, a youthful aspiring chocolatier, Paul A Young, who had just left working as Head Pâtissier for Marco Pierre White, with ambitions to start a first rate chocolate business, joined us running our chocolate making classes. The rest is history as Paul established himself a chocolatier par excellence with a now very distinguished career and many awards to bear this out.
Ros Rants: To Drink or Not To Drink
Is it safe to drink and cook? I was motivated to write a post after a corporate event called to cancel today. Last week we met an agent and his client, who used the word ‘perfect’ to describe what we had to offer. Cookery School is really small and beautiful. We do all that we can to give the best possible teaching experiences to students coming in to learn to cook and to those doing corporate events.

A Recipe For Success
A recipe is like a strategy. It’s the how you will do the thing you’re doing, or in the case of cooking, it’s how you will make the thing you’re making. It has directions and a clearly defined input and output. It also has an anticipated outcome that can easily be measured – both qualitatively and quantitatively.
When teams collaborate to deliver on a strategy, there is responsibility, accountability, delegation,

6 Reasons to Book a Corporate Away Day
Team building activities and away-days tend to be unfairly weighted toward Christmas time when the office is ready to go off-site for a bit of a jolly. But just like puppies, team building events are not just for Christmas!

Benefits of team away days, according to Mail Online
We were delighted to be included in today’s article by the Mail Online’s ‘This is Money‘ feature.
When weighing up whether team away days are worthwhile – (spoiler: they are) – Mail Online put us as one of the top choices for an activity with the highlight being: “talking about it with colleagues around a large table in a restaurant-style setting as we tucked into the meal we had prepared”.

Great British Chefs at Cookery School
On Friday we were pleased to welcome Great British Chefs’ Cook School to our kitchens. GBC Cook School is an opportunity for a select group of bloggers and keen cooks to have a hands-on lesson from the top chefs that feature on their website.
Friday’s chef was Adam Gray from Skylon. Here’s Adam in action rolling out bread for his mackerel dish:
We started with fresh mackerel wrapped in bread that was rolled out flat then pan fried so it’s crispy and just cooked then served with rhubarb.
African Leadership at Cookery School
Our event with the African Leadership Institute was a complete success with 26 potential leaders working as ‘team Africa’ at Cookery School all day to create feasts from north, south, east and west Africa.
BBC World Service Radio News sent reporter, William Edmondson, to Cookery School for BBC Newsday, which aired this week and is available on iPlayer as well as here. In the broadcast,

Olympic Cook-Off: Italian vs Middle Eastern
Last week’s Olympic corporate cook-off saw two teams going for gold! With few confident cooks in the kitchen the challenge was set: two teams cooking Italian vs. Middle Eastern and they certainly had their work cut out in producing a three course meal with petits fours. The team leader got straight into rolling and making pitta breads, setting the bar high for his colleagues.
The teams started with a mezze of dips and homemade pitta bread vs.

The ingredients of a good Christmas party
We’ve been busy with one corporate Christmas party after another. The kitchens are decked with tinsel and holly, looking very festive in keeping with the spirit of the parties.
The menus on these events reflect the season with lots of butternut or pumpkin ravioli, soups, mulled wine cabbage, guinea fowl, Christmas ice cream (homemade ice cream with liquor-marinaded dried fruits) as well as mini mince pies by the dozen.
