Our top food shops in London

On Monday our Summer Cooking Camp kicks off. This is a five day course aimed at teens to prepare them for when they fly the nest. Whilst mornings are spent cooking, afternoons are spent exploring our favourite London foodie hotspots. Here’s where we’re going next week…

La Fromagerie has grown from one cheese in Patricia Michelson’s garden shed to over 260 different cheeses in her two incredible London shops with walk-in cheese rooms in Highbury and Marylebone. One of the things that makes La Fromagerie so special is the cheese maturing cellars at both shops where the cheeses are stored until they are at their peak, so you know you will only be buying the absolute best.

We were pleased to come across Fin & Flounder as they share our values about responsible sourcing, selling only locally caught fish from sustainable boats. They are on a mission to bring back the traditional local fishmonger and this shines through in the knowledge their staff demonstrate in both the sourcing of the fish and the enthusiasm with which they give serving and cooking advice.

E5 Bakehouse is a truly artisan organic bakery. All their bread is handmade daily in the bakery and most of the flour used is sourced from local mills using diverse varieties of wheat so that it is sustainable. Not only that, they use only renewable energy, biodegradable packaging, recycle their waste and even make local deliveries by bicycle! Most importantly though, their food is delicious.

Green Valley is an authentic Lebanese cave of delights. Platters stacked high with glistening baklava, rows upon rows of vegetables, freshly made salads and an awesome selection of spices. We love to lose ourselves here, taking in all the sights and smells.

Brindisa is simply the best Spanish food supplier in London. For 25 years they’ve been sourcing the best Spanish ingredients for the UK Market. Their flagship store, located in Borough Market, showcases beautiful leg of jamon, artisan cheese, chorizo, olives and a plethora of other Spanish deliciousness. If you head down to their Borough Market shop around lunchtime, be sure to try their famous grilled chorizo sandwiches.
