Support our farmers, fisheries & suppliers during COVID-19

During these uncertain times, we have been heartened to see so many people pulling together to help each other. Whether it’s shopping for neighbours, volunteering to help cook for NHS workers, or reaching out to those who are lonely in self isolation. As food lovers, one way we can ALL help is by being more connected with the people who supply our food. Rather than facing the frustration of no delivery slots in your normal online supermarket or standing in physical queues outside those same supermarkets, there are many farmers, fisheries and independent food producers who are turning their businesses around and delivering to your home.  Here are just a few of our suppliers and other sustainable food companies you can order from directly:

Our wonderful meat supplier Rhug Estate have a wide range of organic meat and poultry you can order online. They have  also teamed up with local food producers. So in addition to meat, you can choose from a selection of wine, ales, jams, cakes, biscuits, cheese, and more from their excellent pantry.

Hodmedods pulses

Hodmedods work with a range of great British farmers to source a range of top quality ingredients and delicious foods. They are really good at searching out lesser known foods, like the fava bean – grown in Britain since the Iron Age but now almost forgotten – and black badger peas. You can order online with delivery around the UK.

Brindisa have a beautifully curated range of high quality Spanish food and ingredients. From cheese, ham, cured meats and many store cupboard items such as chick peas, butter beans and smoked paprika, you can order online with items delivered across the UK.

Call 4 Fish Our fishermen across the UK  are still out fishing for you and bringing home some of the world’s best fish and shellfish. Call 4 Fish is a collective formed by the fish industry. They started with the simple idea of trying to help local fishermen and traders stay in business whilst ensuring that local people could continue to purchase fish safely. The fish can be collected or delivered to your door.  Find out how to order on their website.

La Fromagerie have three wonderful specialist cheese shops in London and we are regular customers at their Marylebone branch. We are delighted to see they are offering online orders for their gift boxes, cheese, wine and other dry-store items. Visit their online shop to treat yourself with their cheese.

They have partnered with several other Soil Association certified farmers to bring you ethically raised, skillfully butchered and flavoursome meat all year round. Their meat boxes are delivered all over the UK, including the Highlands.

Natoora work directly with farmers and independent producers to source seasonal fruit and vegetables, sustainably produced dairy and charcuterie as well as exceptional store cupboard essentials. Normally they only supplied restaurants, chefs and the food service industry, but if you are in Greater London, you can access their app and get the best ingredients delivered to your home. Find out more here.

If you feel in need of a pick-me-up they will deliver chocolate to your door. Food Redistribution services and charities

Finally, we hope you have found our round up of independent suppliers helpful. However, please remember that there are so many people that are not being looked after as they ought to be when it comes to food.  Under these testing circumstances, it is wonderful that food distribution charities and initiatives such as  City Harvest, The Felix Project and Olio are helping those with food insecurity or who may be struggling to buy nourishing food. We hope you can spare a few minutes to look at their sites and help in whatever ways you can.
