Olympic Cook-Off: Italian vs Middle Eastern
Last week’s Olympic corporate cook-off saw two teams going for gold! With few confident cooks in the kitchen the challenge was set: two teams cooking Italian vs. Middle Eastern and they certainly had their work cut out in producing a three course meal with petits fours. The team leader got straight into rolling and making pitta breads, setting the bar high for his colleagues.
The teams started with a mezze of dips and homemade pitta bread vs. homemade pasta, a warm up before getting stuck into the main course; caponata with lamb vs. lamb chermoula with cous cous. Flying the Italian flag for dessert was homemade gelato with caramel sauce against a Middle Eastern orange and almond cake. Finally, the home straight – walnut biscuits vs. biscotti.
At the end of an entertaining evening the Middle East was victorious – the hard work paid off and everyone sat down to relax and enjoy all the food made with organic wines.
